About
COUNTERGLOSS publishes criticism about how culture works. We write about film, fashion, platforms, politics—the machinery that shapes taste and belief. The tone shifts. The aim does not: say what’s there, and say it cleanly.
You’ll find finished essays, working notes, and the odd dead end we kept on purpose. Think of this as a long conversation with receipts.
How to use this site
Library. Browse by tag (subject), concept (idea in play), and register (voice). Tags are broad. Concepts are the threads. Registers tell you whether we’re writing straight, lyrical, or with a knife.
Margins. Many pieces have notes in the margins: sources, side arguments, small jokes. They’re part of the text. Follow them if you like detours; skip them if you don’t.
Threads. Some ideas recur. We link forward and back when they do. Start anywhere. If a post nags at you, follow its links. If it doesn’t, close the tab. No hard feelings.
Pace. There’s no feed and no “most read.” Read what you came for. Come back when something sticks in your teeth.
